The post will be a part time Therapist or Mental Health Practitioner who will have evidenced experience of delivering therapeutic Interventions to children and young people ideally in a school setting and in the community on a 1:1 and in a group.
St Helens Resilience Service is a new service, developed through collaboration between Barnardo's and St Helens CCG, Public Health, Local Schools and Merseycare NHS Trust.
The overall aim of the service is to improve the emotional wellbeing and resilience of secondary school aged young people living in St Helens by offering a range of therapeutic interventions in secondary schools, in GP surgeries and in the community. This will be done through direct interventions with young people such as group work, drop-ins and individual interventions, and indirectly through their parents, and through training, resourcing and supporting health and education colleagues.
Qualified Therapist Applicants should:
- be qualified to Diploma level or above in one or more of a range of modalities such as Integrative, Person-Centred Counselling, CBT, Art, Play, Solution Focussed Therapy with Membership of relevant professional body
- have experience of delivering counselling interventions with children and young people with mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing needs.
- Be able to manage and prioritise their own caseload and provide personalised support to children and young people using evidence based Routine Outcome Measures.
- Be able to provide a culturally sensitive service, by supporting people from all backgrounds and communities, respecting children and young people's lifestyles and diversity.
Mental Health Practitioner Applicants should:
- Have an understanding of the wider determinants of health, including social, educational, economic and environmental factors and their impact on the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people.
- Be able to manage and prioritise their own caseload and provide personalised support to children and young people, using a range of Goal Based Outcomes and Routine Outcome Measures
- Be able to provide a culturally sensitive service, by supporting people from all backgrounds and communities, respecting children and young people's lifestyles and diversity.
