An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Black Country Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC). We are looking for a highly trained and motivated person who has the ability to work in a fast paced environment against tight deadlines and with a real passion to make a difference to vulnerable children and families.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of a special team delivering an alternative form of care proceedings to improve outcomes for children, supporting parents to overcome substance misuse, mental health & domestic abuse problems that have put their children at risk of serious harm.
Candidates will be required to travel between sites across Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley so a driving license and access to a vehicle is required.

About the role:
Work flexibly and creatively to establish and support our service users in making a positive difference to their lives.
Complete direct work with service users around the issues they face.
Through reflective practice, team formulation and training, support the team to increase knowledge, skills, and professional confidence around the needs of the people we support.
Ensure that the team are adhering to best practice guidelines and the delivery of high-quality care.
Be responsible for writing assessments and preparing court reports so good report writing skills and attention to detail is important.
Offer quality assurance and on-going learning to support the team with completion of effective referrals and sustaining effective referral pathways

Essential
Hold a valid qualification in Social Work and be registered with the regulatory body
Experience
Essential
Experience of leadership, motivating and inspiring individuals and teams Experience of and confidence in complex decision making related to SU issues, using defensible decision-making skills and clear communication. Experience of strategic decision making and influence utilising emotional intelligence and courage Good working knowledge of children/adult social care system Experience and knowledge on the working practice of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Experience of developing and sustaining positive working relationships with a range of professionals Experience of positively engaging with people who use services Excellent social work skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of complex issues Ability to lead, inspire and develop a team with excellent team working and interpersonal skills, developing positive working cultures and relationships Ability to apply reasoned non-judgemental analysis to the investigation of incidents (including the death of service users) and to produce high quality investigation reports Excellent team working, communication and collaboration skills Ability to identify emerging themes and trends and work collaboratively with people to respond to these Ability to work proactively and autonomously Ability to communicate complex information to people in a way that is easily understood Ability to utilise a range of feedback mechanisms to evaluate and improve service delivery Good IT skills and ability to understand the purpose of systems Ensuring good service governance as part of the service leadership team
