An opportunity has arisen for a Family & Volunteer Support Worker to join the Family & Volunteer Support Service, part of the Social Care Service within Rampton Hospital. Rampton is a national high secure hospital and is based in rural North Nottinghamshire.
We are looking for a caring, approachable and confident person who is empathic and non-judgmental, to join our team. Family & Volunteer Support Workers provide a sensitive and high quality service, maintaining strict confidentiality, to diverse group of people: The role will involve championing the Carer and Volunteer Visitors agenda in the hospital. Supporting all on-site social visits, providing support and information to Carers, family members, friends and volunteer befrienders of patients resident in the hospital.
The Team Goal is: To improve the overall visitor experience of the hospital. To enhance the life of the patient by providing a Volunteer Visitors by ‘bringing the outside in’. To enable high quality social visits to take place in order for patients to remain connected to their families & friends.
Interview date will be Weds 2nd October.
There will be professional & carer joint interview panel and an admin task to complete on the day.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
- Manage the centralised social visitor booking services for onsite & virtual visits, overnight accommodation and social visitor event days.
- To have I/C (In-Charge) responsibilities on social visitors’ and child onsite visits, often being the sole member of staff on those visits.
- Ensure the Social Visitors overnight accommodation and the Child Visiting Suite run smoothly and in accordance with procedure & risk assessments.
- Have competent admin skills – (including use of databases)
- Assist organising of Social Visitor information, Social Visitor events days, Volunteer traini
ng days.
- Support Ward Carer Links as part of the Triangle of Care agenda.
- To assist the recruitment and induction and ongoing training/support of volunteer visitors.
- Willing to be trained in according to the role, to include the full PMVA (Positive Management of Violence and Aggression), search training, observation skills, child contact training etc.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Family & Volunteer Support Service Goal is: To improve the overall social visitor experience of the hospital. To enhance the life of the patient by providing a Volunteer Visitors by ‘bringing the outside in’. To enable high quality social visits to take place in order for patients to remain connected to their families & friends.
Due to meeting the needs of the service, there is a significant expectation of weekend working in this role, at least x2 full weekends a month. Hours per shift are normally worked flexibly between 8am -5pm, although occasional out of hours working may be asked of you.
Please note this post does not meet skill level required for a Skilled worker visa. Applicants requiring a Skilled Worker visa will usually need to be in a role which is at Band 3 or above. Please note this role is NOT eligible for sponsorship.
