BASW England takes over as headline sponsor of the Social Worker of the Year Awards

BASW England will be the new headline sponsor of The Social Worker of the Year Awards for the next three years.

The awards include 19 different categories across both children’s and adult services including two new categories, the Technology Enabled Lives and Practice Award and Practitioner-Led Research Award.

The awards opened for entry earlier this month with categories open to social work practitioners, teams, social work students, and organisations working to support individuals, families and communities across England.

BASW is the UK’s largest professional membership organisation for social work across the UK and has a long relationship with the Awards, having been the Corporate Sponsor for many years.

Peter Hay MBE, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Social Worker of the Year Awards, said they were “delighted to expand our long-term working relationship with BASW and to welcome the organisation as the headline sponsor.”

“BASW has an excellent reputation and shares our value of encouraging a culture of reward and recognition in the sector. BASW will support the charity with our aims of promoting best practice, celebrating success, improving public understanding of social work and promoting diversity and equal opportunities in social work.”

Vava Tampa, Chair of BASW England, said the sponsorship is a “unique and important opportunity to showcase and celebrate the exceptional work of social workers and the very positive impact they make.”

“The Awards are also key in building wider positive understanding of the profession and an inspiration for the next generation of social workers.”

The Social Worker of the Year Awards were founded in 2006 by Social Worker Beverley Williams MBE. It remains the only major national awards event for social work in England, attracting hundreds of entries every year and reaching millions of people with positive stories of outstanding social work, creative and compassionate practitioners and outstanding practice.

Entries are open for nominations until Monday 3 June 2024. See more information about how to nominate: https://www.socialworkawards.com/award-entry/how-to-enter/
