Five London councils to recruit and showcase good practice at CJF London

The COMPASS Jobs Fair returns to London on Monday, providing a space for social workers to explore career opportunities and discover the latest practice with the Social Work Innovations conference.

Taking place at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square (postcode: W1K 6JP) on the 20 November, the event features more than 30 exhibitors, including local authorities, universities, independent providers, and voluntary sector organisations.

Local authorities from London and across the UK will be represented, showcasing their commitment to the sector with career development opportunities and good practice in a range of models from systemic, relational and strengths-based practice to Signs of Safety and unique models.

London councils Ealing, Hounslow, Kensington & Chelsea, Southwark, and Westminster will join Cardiff Children’s Services, Coventry City Council, Hampshire County Council, Kent County Council, Surrey County Council and West Sussex County Council.

COMPASS aims to facilitate face-to-face interactions between candidates and employers, providing networking and learning opportunities.

Steven Forbes, Executive Director of Children's and Adults' Services at Hounslow Council, expressed his excitement about the event their hopes to attract talent to Hounslow’s dedicated and innovative workforce.

“Hounslow Council is delighted to attend the COMPASS Job Fair for the first time. It's a great opportunity to reach out to outstanding talents who are interested in working for our Children’s Social Care Service and transforming the lives of children and young people in Hounslow.

“A culturally diverse and inclusive borough, Hounslow is home to families and children speaking 188 languages. We look forward to showcasing the Council’s brilliant practices of supporting children and young people, and amazing career pathways.”

There is a wide-ranging programme of seminars and workshops throughout the day, with some key topics including: wellbeing, family safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, legal considerations, anti-racism and diversity.

Robert South, Director of Children’s Services, London Borough of Ealing, said he was pleased the council would have the opportunity to share information on its Brighter Futures practice model about developing relationships and intervention strategies for all the young children and families that we work with.
